For roofers and gutter cleaners
After a night of wind, the damp ceilings start ringing. She answers yours.
Ansela answers while you’re on the scaffold, takes the address, where the water’s coming in and when they’re home, and books the look into your diary.
£1.99 your first month, including VAT, then from £99 a month + VAT. 60 minutes in month one. No contract.
Set up in about 15 minutes.

Is there an answering service for roofers?
Yes. Ansela is an AI phone receptionist for roofers and gutter cleaners. She answers in your firm’s name while you’re on a roof, takes the address and where the water is coming in, and books the look into your Ansela diary. Plans start at £99 a month + VAT.

The call she took the morning after the storm
A leak by a shared chimney, a caller who picks Saturday and then wants Thursday. It goes in the diary the way she finally decided.
Example call; Ashdown Roofing and the caller are made up.
This call may be recorded. Thank you for calling Ashdown Roofing. Please hold for a moment while I connect you.Recorded, and played before she picks up.
Ashdown Roofing, Ansela speaking. How can I help?
Morning. We’ve got water coming through the bedroom ceiling, round where the chimney is. It was dripping all night, we’ve had a bucket under it.
Sorry to hear that. Can I take the postcode?
BN2 4LQ. It’s a terrace, the chimney’s shared with next door, if that matters.
I’ll note that for Steve. Is it still dripping now the rain’s stopped?
Hang on. No, it’s stopped. There’s a brown stain the size of a dinner plate, mind.
Steve can come and look Thursday afternoon, or Saturday morning between eight and twelve.
Saturday. No, Thursday, sooner’s better. I’ll work from home.
Thursday afternoon, then. Can I take a name and a number for Steve?
Aisha Begum. 07700 900452.
Thanks Aisha. You’re booked for Thursday afternoon, and Steve has the details now.

What she does for a roofer, and what she won’t
She works from what you’ve given her: flat roofs or pitched, the towns you cover, what you say about out-of-hours, and how far ahead you’re booked.
- Look-and-quote visits for leaks, slipped slates and flashing, booked into your diary.
- Gutter clears and fascia jobs, booked in like any other visit.
- “Do you do flat roofs?” and “Do you go out as far as Lewes?” answered from your own list.
- Storm-week calls while you’re on someone else’s roof, each one written up with the address and where the water is.
- Won’t quote from a description. She books a look or takes the details.
- Won’t promise an emergency call-out or a tarp tonight unless you offer one. You set what callers are told out of hours.
03
What happens when a roofer misses a call in a storm?
The week after high wind, the phone doesn’t stop: slipped slates, a lifted ridge, a stain spreading across a bedroom ceiling. Callers ring down the list until someone answers. You’re on someone else’s roof with both hands busy, so the calls pile up while you work.
A missed call from a leak is not a customer who will try again tomorrow. They have a bucket under the drip and they want somebody to say yes. She answers, takes the address and the details, and you have the whole list waiting when you come down.
04
What does she ask someone with a leaking roof?
The postcode, so she can say whether you cover the area. Then where the water is coming in, whether it’s dripping now, and what sort of building it is: a terrace with a shared chimney, a flat roof, a bungalow. She takes a name and number, and when someone is home.
She offers the look-and-quote slots you’ve set. She doesn’t quote from a description, and callers can’t send her photos, so she takes it all on the phone. You can ask for pictures when you ring back.
05
Do I have to offer emergency call-outs?
No. What callers are told out of hours is a rule you set. If you don’t do emergency work, she says so, takes the details and books the first look you have. If you do, you choose whether those calls are put through to your mobile.
She won’t promise a tarp tonight or a same-day visit unless you’ve said she can. Any trade body membership, such as the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, is yours to claim. Put it in what you give her if you want callers told.
06
Does she book gutter clears and fascia jobs too?
Yes. Gutter clears, fascias, flat roof repairs and chimney work all go into your Ansela diary like any other visit, in the days and windows you choose. If you tell her you only cover certain towns, she asks the postcode first. Builders can use her the same way.
Plans start at £99 a month + VAT: see what each plan includes. Paying a per-call service now? See how Ansela compares.

Where the phone usually is the morning after the storm
We built Ansela because we kept ringing tradespeople who couldn’t pick up, and then booking someone else. She isn’t a call centre. She answers in your name, says what you’ve told her to say, and writes down what the caller wanted.
If she gets a call wrong, forward us the recording.

08
How do you set up Ansela?
You choose a plan before your number goes live.
For roofers and gutter cleaners: keep your current number and divert it to Ansela, or take a new UK business number for your website and cards, or use both.
- Give her your website. She reads it and comes back with your services, the towns you cover and your hours for you to check.
- Tell her about out-of-hours and try her. Say what she tells a caller at night, then have the leak call above with her in your browser.
- Divert your mobile. We give you a UK number. One short code diverts your mobile to it when you don’t pick up. Another turns it off.

Questions roofers and gutter cleaners ask
Can callers send her photos of the damage?
No. She takes the details on the phone, and you can ask for photos when you ring back.
Do I have to offer emergency call-outs?
No. If you don’t, she tells callers that, takes the details and books the first look you’ve got.
Can she give a rough price for a re-roof?
Only if you’ve given her a figure to say. Otherwise she books a look and takes the details, and you quote once you’ve seen the roof. That keeps a guess off the phone.
It goes quiet in winter. Can I stop it?
Cancel any time and it stops at the end of the month you’ve paid for. Start again when the work picks up.
Do I have to change my number?
No. We give you a UK number and you divert your own to it with a short code (codes by network). Turn the divert off whenever you like.
What is a minute, and can she take two calls at once?
A minute is time she spends on the phone with callers. Starter includes 600 a month, extra minutes are 20p each up to a limit you set, and Starter takes 1 call at a time. A caller who rings while she’s busy can leave a voicemail, which doesn’t use your minutes.
Is there a contract, and what happens after the £1.99 month?
No minimum term. After the first month it carries on at your plan price plus VAT unless you cancel, which you can do from your billing page at any time.
Next storm week, let her take the calls.
