The estate with six years of dog hair in the boot

This is the kind of call a mobile valeter takes on a Friday. Saturday turns into Monday halfway through, and the dog hair is in the note before Kyle opens the boot.

Example call; Gleam Valeting and the caller are made up.

Intro

This call may be recorded. Thank you for calling Gleam Valeting. Please hold for a moment while I connect you.Recorded, and played before she picks up.

Ansela

Gleam Valeting, Ansela speaking. How can I help?

Caller

Hiya. How much is a full valet on an estate? I’m selling it, it’s a Skoda Octavia, and the dog’s been in the back for six years, so.

Ansela

A full valet on an estate is eighty-five pounds and takes about three hours. Kyle has Saturday at nine or Monday at one.

Caller

Saturday. Can you get all the dog hair out?

Ansela

I can’t promise how it’ll come up, but I’ll note the dog hair so Kyle knows before he starts. Is that at your address, or at the unit?

Caller

At mine. Oh, actually, the car’s at my partner’s work on Saturday. Make it Monday.

Ansela

Monday at one, at your address. What’s the postcode?

Caller

RG1 8BT. Flat 4, there’s a car park round the back.

Ansela

RG1 8BT, flat 4, car park at the back. And a name?

Caller

Sam Okoro. This number’s fine.

What she does for a valeting firm, and what she won’t

She works from your packages and prices by car size, how long each takes, and which days you’re mobile and which you’re at the unit.

  • Mini valets, full valets and machine polishes, booked into your diary for as long as each takes.
  • “How much for a Qashqai?” priced from your list by car size and package.
  • Mobile or at your unit, with the postcode and where to park when you’re going to them.
  • Moving or cancelling a booking, and the message from the customer who wants a ceramic coat quoted.
  • Won’t promise a result on paint, swirls or stains. She notes what the caller tells her, for you.
  • Won’t quote for anything you haven’t priced. She takes the details and you ring them back.

03

What happens when a valeter misses a call?

Most valeting enquiries start with “how much is it for my car?” If nobody picks up, the caller searches again and rings the next valeter. People looking for a valet are often selling a car, or have a weekend free, so they want a price and a slot in the same call.

Your phone is in the van while you have foam on the bodywork, a pressure washer running and wet gloves on. Ringing back later means starting the conversation from scratch.

04

How does an AI receptionist price a valet?

From the list you give her. Tell her your packages and the price for each car size, small hatch to large estate or 4x4, and she works out which one the caller means and says that price. If you’ve told her which size a Qashqai is, she gives that price.

Anything you haven’t priced, such as a ceramic coating or a headlight restoration, she takes as a message with the car and what they want, and you ring back with a quote. She won’t promise how paint, swirls or stains will come up.

05

Can she book mobile and unit valets differently?

Yes. Tell her which days you travel and which you work at your unit. On a mobile day she takes the postcode, the flat or house number and where the car will be parked. On a unit day she gives your address and the drop-off time.

She books each package for the time you set, so a full valet that takes three hours blocks three hours in your Ansela diary. She also notes the details that change the job, like six years of dog hair, so you know before you start.

06

What happens if a customer wants to move or cancel?

She takes the name and the booking they mean, reads out your cancellation wording if you have any, and moves it to another slot in the diary if the caller picks one. She doesn’t refund or charge anyone. That’s up to you when you read the summary.

Plans start at £99 a month + VAT: see what each plan includes. Paying a per-call service now? See how Ansela compares.

Where the phone usually is while the snow foam dwells

A valeting van with a water tank in its open rear doors, buckets on the wet car park
Friday, 10:30. Buckets out, foam on, the phone on the van floor next to the cloths.

We built Ansela because we kept ringing tradespeople who couldn’t pick up, and then booking someone else. She isn’t a call centre. She answers in your name, says what you’ve told her to say, and writes down what the caller wanted.

If she gets a call wrong, forward us the recording.

08

How do you set up Ansela?

You choose a plan before your number goes live.

For car valeting and detailing: keep your current number and divert it to Ansela, or take a new UK business number for your website and cards, or use both.

  • Give her your website, or your Facebook or Instagram page. She reads it and comes back with your packages, your prices and your hours for you to check.
  • Pick a voice and try her. Have the dog-hair call above with her yourself in your browser before she takes a real one. Change the day on her.
  • Divert your mobile. We give you a UK number. One short code diverts your mobile to it when you don’t pick up. Another turns it off.

Questions car valeting and detailing ask

Can she price by car size?

Yes. Give her your sizes and packages, small hatch to large 4x4, and she works out which one the caller means and gives that price.

I’m mobile some days and at the unit others.

Tell her which days are which. On a mobile day she takes the postcode and where to park.

Will she promise the dog hair comes out?

No. She writes down what the caller tells her about the car and you decide what you can do when you see it.

Can she answer my Instagram messages?

No. She answers the phone. Put your number in your bio and she picks up when they ring it.

Do I have to change my number?

No. We give you a UK number and you divert your own to it with a short code (codes by network). Turn the divert off whenever you like.

What is a minute, and can she take two calls at once?

A minute is time she spends on the phone with callers. Starter includes 600 a month, extra minutes are 20p each up to a limit you set, and Starter takes 1 call at a time. A caller who rings while she’s busy can leave a voicemail, which doesn’t use your minutes.

Is there a contract, and what happens after the £1.99 month?

No minimum term. After the first month it carries on at your plan price plus VAT unless you cancel, which you can do from your billing page at any time.

Keep the lance moving. She’ll take the call.
